Skyline featuring Cassidy Lynn put on an awesome performance on Saturday, July 11 at The Afton Fair despite the storms that rolled through. Thank you to Skyline, Cassidy Lynn and to sound expert Brian Aitkens for keeping everything going through the end of the night!

Floral Hall had a lot of wonderful and creative items entered this year. All of the time and work that went into the crafts entered is amazing! This year we had 3 new chairpersons: Cindy Kinsey - Open Sewing, Marge Miner - Youth Sewing, and Maureen Ryan - Open and Youth Photography. These ladies did a superb job through the year and the entries that came in because of their hard work were wonderful!
We had some new judges this year as well as some veteran judges, they all had some tough decisions to make and did a superb job.
There were many people who contributed to the success of Floral Hall this year. I cannot begin to list all the names as the list of wonderful people who gave their time and helping hands is long. I can say that without their help Floral Hall would not have been what it was this year. To everyone who had a hand in Floral Hall this year, a sincere Thank You!
We are still seeking people who would like to volunteer in Floral Hall as chairpersons, judges, and representatives. To the volunteers that we currently have and to those that will come to us in the future I would like to say: "Volunteers are unpaid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless." As always, should you have any questions regarding Floral Hall or the Afton Fair, you can call the Afton Fair Office at 607-639-1525. Email Floral Hall at:

As for me, this was my first year as Floral Hall Superintendant. Yes, there were a few snags, but we are still learning. To the many people who shared their experience and helped to guide me. Thank you.

You are required to carry insurance for your storage items as well as sign a contract. Cost is based on the square footage of space your item(s) take. Your items will go into storage in October and must be removed in late April or early May.
If you would like more information about winter storage, please call the Afton Fair Office at 607-639-1525.

During the 120th Afton Fair members of a local 4-H Club volunteered to help us poll our visitors. The information that we collected included where they came from, what day(s) they came, age range, children who came with them, what brought them to our fair and what they would like to see at the fair and more. Those who filled out the poll form were entered into a drawing for a $50 Gas Card. On July 20, 2009 we drew the winning name. Congratulations to Edna Cering who was our winner! Thank you to everyone who filled out our form.
In order to continue collecting information, we will be setting up a poll on our website that will be accessible from a link on our homepage. This poll will be available in early September. Once available, stop by to complete and submit the poll to let us know what you would like to see at the 2010 Afton Fair. There is no drawing connected to submitting this poll on our website at this time. If we do decide to do one, all completed polls from the date it is first available will be included. Duplicate submittals will be void.
We look forward to your input!

Harness racing at this year's Afton Fair was a huge success. Seventy-five horses competed for a total of $28,135 in County Fair, Billings and overnight races. Fourteen races kept everyone busy cheering for their favorite horse.
The track was in good condition and we were hoping for a new track record or two but that didn't come to be. Winning owners were able to purchase professional photos of their horse crossing the finish line and in the Winners Circle.
Our ninth annual pick the winner game was fun for all and awarded $140 in prizes to several spectators who were lucky enough to choose the race winner and be drawn at random from all those who did. We are hoping to have more people attend our races next year to see what harness racing is all about. It is an awesome show put on not only for the participants but for the public at no extra charge. Please come out next year to support our harness racing program.
The Afton Fair Harness Racing Staff extends a resounding thank you to our special sponsors!

The weather was sunny and the crowd was standing room only making the perfect setting for a great 2009 Afton Fair Demolition Derby with thirty-four cars that ran in five heats.
After months of worry and wanting to put on a better show than The Afton Fair has had in a long time, we know we couldn't have done this without the help of everyone involved. Bill and I want to extend a special thanks to all our officials, the tractor operators who helped clear off the cars so quickly and the drivers that helped to give the spectators a perfect derby.
